The Fruchthalle is a landmark of the city, right in the center of Kaiserslautern, built between 1843 and 1846. The building is reminiscent of the palazzi of the Florentine early Renaissance and is considered the most important secular building in the Palatinate. Until 1901, the Kaiserslautern fruit and grain market took place on the ground floor, hence the name.
